Howdy Stranger

This is me. A thirty something crafty lady (term loosely used) from Newcastle, NSW, Australia. I'm a graphic designer, web designer, printmaker, sometime artist, shower singer, friend, girlfriend, daughter, home owner, traveller, laugher and disco dancer who's favourite things to eat are garlic and tofu (both of which make me terribly sick.)

This Is Not Art Festival - 30 Sept - 4th October

October is an exciting month here in Newcastle. Coming to town this month is the This Is Not Art Festival. This Is Not Art is Australia's independent, emerging and experimental arts festival. It runs every year on the last weekend of September.

Talented writers, performers, thinkers, independent and industry musicians, creative researchers, electronic artists, dilettantes, and DIY culture makers converge on Newcastle to showcase their craft.

The Festival also incorporates -

The Crack Theatre Festival - a new national theatre arts festival and forum that features a three day program of performances, forums, and workshops that profile the diverse styles and forms within contemporary Australian theatre.

Critical Animals - musters together postgraduate and honours students, early career academics, quasi-intellectuals and anyone else interested in devouring critical contexts for the kinds of experimental and emerging arts and media practices that form the This is Not Art program.

Electrofringe - is a festival of experimental electronic arts and culture. It focuses on uncovering emergent forms and artists.

The National Young Writers Festival  is Australia’s premier event for emerging writers, publishers and performers.

Sound Summit exists to support brilliant artists, labels and people that work and play in the world of innovative independent music from both Australia and abroad.

The last Sunday of the festival is the Zine & Maker fair day and is not to be missed if your searching out the countries best Zine makers & craftsters. Stop by and see our stall =)
