Sunday afternoon is making time. I'll usually screen print or sew and generally tinker around my studio trying to make something. Yesterday I just couldn't get my making mojo on. I printed a few shirts, distracted myself on Pinterest/replying to emails/facebooking etc. Procrastinating my way through two hours. (you know you've all done it before!)

I googled 'help with procrastination', looking for a miracle cure and found the positivityblog.com's 'how-to-stop-procrastinating-7-timeless-tips' post. I read the first tip 'Stop thinking, Start doing' and I picked up my camera and started shooting, 1 hour later I had these photo's for this blog post ready to go. Such a simple theory, but it worked for me.

Here's the seven steps that they recommended, I never got to the others. Maybe this will help with your creative procrastination.

1. Stop thinking. Start doing.

2. Don’t blow a task out of proportion.

3. Just take the first step.

4. Start with the hardest task of your day.

5. Just make a decision. Any decision.

6. Face your fear.

7. Finish it.

Other site's recommended Eliminating Fear and Cultivating Desire, it all seemed a little convoluted and
painful these 7 seven steps are easy enough to follow. (I told you i was looking for a quick miracle cure!)

Here's my afternoon pics, taken at my house, affectionately known as 'The Lodge'. The Lodge is actually a 1901 built Masonic Temple on the outskirts of Newcastle. It's has loads of history and cool quirky design features like a single porthole window (you can see the window in the 3rd last picture) and a tessellated Masonic flooring. I'll keep you posted on more images when more renovations start happening.

Here's some more photo's from our road trip to melboune via ballarat and Daylesford. There were lots and shallots of stops at antique and op shops along the way! Our wonderful friend Tim introduced us to The Mill Markets, they are gigantic antique mega stores with lots of locations in rural Victoria. We got lost in their daylesford store for almost 2 hours.

mmm... The delicious Smitten Kitchen has been in my life for a little while now, I figure I better share it too. Smitten Kitchen is a food blog hailing from the great food city New York. Deb Perelmen is the a Writer, Cook and Photographer behind this scrummy blog full of really great food photography and amazing recipes.

wish, wish, wish is more like a dream than a blog. 21 year old Carrie is a fashion student from London who blogs about daily london life, vintage fashion and 'whimsical encounters'. I'm hooked.

The Minimalists are Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus, blogging superstars who managed to change their lived by getting rid of their consumer lifestyle and living minimaly. They have blogged their journey and have become an internet sensation, spawning 3 books.

Over on Pinterest I have a retro/vintage fabric board if you want to see more from my collection or take a squizz at the other fabrics that I've found on the interwebs. =)

I stumbled upon some great little side streets just off Johnson Street, Fitzroy (smack bang in the middle of all the vintage furniture shops) full of street art from Melbourne artists. I really hope the national art galleries are archiving this stuff. 

Sad thing is I only just stumbled upon all this great art, I didn't seek it out, it would be awesome to have a map of street art hot spots, I google melbourne street art and found that there are actully Melbourne Street Art Tours. Melbourne really does have everything!

We've just returned from a fab easter jaunt to Melbourne, damaging our bank balance and visiting friends. Melbourne is a very enchanting place, so much culture and life, it's so easy to get lost in it all. Next time your in Melbourne stop by the Fitzroy Engine House (Cnr Nicholson & Gertrude St's), The gorgeous Royal Exhibition Building on Johnson Street, Check out the Crochet Tree's on Gertrude Street outside Cottage Industry, taste the yummies at the hip Radio Bar. 

Stop blaming photoshop and/or the designers and start blaming magazine editors, magazine art directors who are directing the fashion and the trends and the designers. I guess low self esteem has been around longer than photoshop, and our national lack of self esteem has made magazine/tv/media moguls rich for a long time.

You'll be glad to know that sometimes... designers get it horribly wrong. Photoshop Disasters proves this daily! it's a great laugh in my lunch break.
