Florence Broadhurst & Signature Prints a must see in Sydney.

If Sydney had it's very own artsy/design guide book this place would definently in the top then. It's the Signature Prints Factory in Rosebery. Signature Prints own the rights to the entire library of the famous artist and screenprinter Florence Broadhurst. Florence was an enigmatic character that graced Sydneys social and art scene in the 1970's. If you read the hype there is contention of wether Florence herself created any of the designs or she hired designers to work for her and claim the kudo's. Who knows, I guess we never will, either way i'm a big fan!

Did you know? Have you heard? It's all the rage here in Newcastle and it's ever so exciting. 2012 is the international year of the sandwich bag! Our lunch bug bags are causing quite the stir at the Newcastle Herald offices... I'm just not sure if I can use the Anti-Theft ones... They are just a little bit too life like!

This Saturday The Olive Tree Market is back and better than ever for 2012, only thing is we wont be there, It's my birthday tomorrow (yay me 33!) and I've got big birthday plans this weekend so i've given myself the weekend off! We will be back next market in March in our same usual spot!

The good life at the lodge.

A few months ago I started my very own slice of the good life, minus the overalls.

In the past few months i have also learn't that sometimes bee's just dont do their jobs properly and that you have to pollinate some fruits yourself?!? My garden guru tells me that I have too many weeds in the backyard and that is distracting the bee's from cross my fruits & veg!

So far I have grown, killed and am currently growing.... tomatoes, fennel, celery, carrots, asparagus, mulberries, blueberries, kale, spinach, silverbeet, beetroot, squash, corn, watermelon, strawberries, limes, lemonades, coriander, watercress, lettuce, basil, chilli's, lemon balm, oregano, passionfruit and capsicums.

I'm making my folks so proud!

The beetroot has been my best harvest yet! It was so delish and I learnt (thanks internets) how to pickle it too!

I took this snap at home here last week. This is my view from the couch with my furry bunny and the hydrangeas 'borrowed' from the the neighbours tree. I love Hydrangeas, not many other people do and everyone seems to have an opinion of them, we've just planted two purple ones at the front of the house to hide the split system AC unit. I cant wait for them to grow.

So you all know that I am enjoying not knowing what day of the week it is on holidays, but tomorrow the fun ends and it's time to get serious and back to work. Today i'm in mourning for my almost three week holiday. I'm sitting at my living room table with a cup of tea, banana on toast, laptop, sunday papers and dressed in black. *insert wailing here*. Tomorrow I will need to know it's Monday 9th January and I might need some of these.
